Picturesque communes of Gassin and Ramatuelle, located in the famous bay of Saint-Tropez, became a nightmare for two families of foreign tourists. Criminals, acting with particular cruelty and professionalism, attacked luxurious villas during the night, stealing valuables worth hundreds of thousands of euros.

🇬🇧 Attack in Gassin: Nighttime Ultimatum

The first crime took place in an elite mansion rented by a young couple from the UK. The spouses, who permanently reside in Dubai, came to the French Riviera for peace and sun, but around 3:30 am their sleep was brutally interrupted.

Two armed intruders burst into the bedroom with knives. Threatening physical violence, they demanded the most valuable items from the owners. The bandits’ target was elite watches. The frightened tourists did not resist, and the criminals escaped with their loot. The estimated value of the stolen accessories was around €150,000.

🇺🇸 Horror in Ramatuelle: While Family Hid, Thieves Ransacked the House

Just a few hours later, a similar incident occurred in the prestigious Pampelonne area, known for its beaches and expensive villas. The victims were an American family who likely didn’t even hear the break-in.

According to the investigation, while adults and children panicked and barricaded themselves in a room while calling the police, the unknown intruders freely roamed the house. They did not directly engage with the victims, focusing on searching for valuables. The thieves stole jewellery - rings, chains, bracelets, and watches. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at almost €100,000.

🚨 High-Flying Professionals

The police note a disturbing trend: the criminals did not act like ordinary street robbers, but like well-prepared professionals.

In one case, forensic experts found no signs of forced entry at the crime scene. This indicates that either the criminals had keys, or they are lock-picking masters, or the tourists themselves left the door unlocked in the hot southern night. The robbers knew exactly where to look for valuables and acted quickly to avoid being caught on surveillance cameras (if any).

🔎 Investigation and Results

The local gendarmerie has launched a large-scale operation to search for the robbers. While the police are reviewing footage from neighbouring villas and questioning staff, the total damage from the two bold robberies has already exceeded a quarter of a million euros (over €250,000).

This incident serves as a warning for owners of elite real estate on the French Riviera, where the beginning of the resort season traditionally attracts not only tourists but also hunters of expensive trophies.
