Golf at Isola 2000: high-altitude oasis on the French Riviera

🏔 High-altitude paradise for golf

The Isola 2000 Golf Club is the only golf course in Europe located at such a height. It was designed taking into account the complex mountainous terrain, making the game here particularly exciting. According to the resort director Pierre Dubois: “Our course combines a sporting challenge with aesthetic pleasure — a rare combination even for world resorts”.

  • 9 holes with panoramic views
  • Elevation changes up to 50 meters
  • Professional instructors
  • Equipment rental on-site

🌿 Nature that inspires artists

The surroundings of Isola 2000 are part of the Mercantour National Park. In summer, the slopes are covered with a carpet of alpine flowers, and the crystal clear lakes reflect the snow-capped peaks. It is these landscapes that inspired such masters as Marc Chagall, who visited these places multiple times.

🚡 How to get from Nice

The road from Nice takes about 1.5 hours:

  1. Highway A8 to the Nice Nord exit
  2. Then on Route Départementale 6202
  3. Then on the picturesque mountain road D2565

In the summer of 2023, the resort introduced special shuttles from the Nice train station.

⛳ Mountain golf features

High-altitude golf has its peculiarities:

  • The ball flies 10-15% further due to the thin air
  • Temperature variations require special equipment
  • It’s better to play in the morning before the night cold melts

As the head coach of the club notes: “Here it is important to take into account not only the wind but also the pressure changes”.

🏨 Where to stay

Guests have a choice of:

  • 4-star hotel with a spa centre
  • Apartments in a traditional alpine style
  • Camping among centuries-old pines

Average prices in the 2024 season start from 120 euros per night.

🍽 Gastronomic delights

After the game, it’s worth trying:

  • Cheeses from local alpine dairies
  • Traditional raclette
  • Tea with alpine herbs

The resort restaurant received the “Gault & Millau” award in 2023.

📅 Best time to go

The ideal period to visit:

  • July — for lovers of blooming alpine meadows
  • August — the warmest days
  • September — tranquillity and golden autumn

The temperature rarely exceeds +25°C even in the height of summer.
