Summer Evenings on the French Riviera: from Night Markets to Baroque Concerts
Summer on the French Riviera is not just beaches and sunshine. Every evening here you can find special events: from night markets with local delicacies to chamber concerts in ancient cathedrals. In July 2026, festivals of young talents, baroque music, and classical piano evenings are held in Cannes, Sospel, and Golfe-Juan. We have gathered the most picturesque events of this season that are worth visiting at least once.
🌃 Night Market in La Bocca: the atmosphere of a Provençal summer
Every Wednesday from July to August, the market square in the La Bocca area of Cannes turns into a place for an evening promenade. Here you can not only buy products, but also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a southern evening. 40 local craftsmen and producers offer:
- Homemade cheeses and olives
- Handmade jewellery
- Cosmetics made from natural ingredients
- Author’s board games
“The La Bocca market is a place where locals and tourists meet, united by their love for good food and handcrafted work,” says market organizer Juliette Marten.
📅 Until August 27, on Wednesdays, from 7:00 pm to midnight. Free entry.
🎻 Young Talents Festival in Cannes: where classical meets jazz
The annual festival, which combines classical music and modern jazz, takes place in the historic district of Le Suquet. In 2026, the theme was “Metamorphoses of Poetry” — the program explores how literary images flow into music.
On July 8th, the audience awaited a special evening:
- At 7:30 pm — Belgian pianist Vale Burnon performed works by Faure, Ravel, and Rachmaninoff
- At 9:00 pm — jazz quartet Ninanda presented original compositions
- At 10:00 pm — a jam session of classical and jazz musicians
“For young musicians, this is a chance to play in one of the most acoustically perfect open spaces in France,” notes festival artistic director Pierre Dubois.
📅 From July 8 to 11 in Place de la Castre. Free.
🏰 BaroQuiales in Sospel: a baroque journey through time
The town of Sospel, located 30 km from Nice, seems frozen in the 18th century. Its cathedral of Saint-Michel is the perfect place for a baroque music festival. In 2026, the Hostel Dieu ensemble’s program “Dolce Follia” explored Italian and Portuguese musical traditions.
What to visit:
- Concerts in the cathedral with its unique acoustics
- Performances on the streets of the medieval town
- Lectures on the history of baroque art
📅 Until July 12. Tickets from 8 to 18 euros.
🌳 Evenings at Mas Claude Cana: piano under the mimosa trees
The secluded villa Mas Claude Cana in Golfe-Juan hosts chamber concerts under the open sky. On July 8, pianist David Kadush performed the program “Forbidden Loves” — from Tchaikovsky to Poulenc.
Features of the place:
- Only 50 seats for listeners
- Transfer from the parking lot is mandatory
- Concerts are accompanied by a tasting of local wines
📅 July 8 and 11 at 9:00 pm. Tickets 25 euros.
