Fragonard hails from Grasse: painting sold for €10.6m
Jean-Honoré Fragonard's painting "L’Instant désiré" (also known as "The Happy Lovers") was hammered down at Christie's in Paris on 23 September 2026 for €10.6m. The pre-sale estimate was around €3m. The artist himself was from Grasse, and the house where he lived still stands in the town.

Monoprix in Grasse opened an exhibition ahead of its move
Until the end of October, Monoprix in Grasse is showing “Martelly / Monoprix: a shared history” — a hundred square metres of photographs, archive documents and objects about a shop that has held the town centre for more than sixty years and moves to a new site this autumn.
