Dog beach La-Siotat: 1000 m², exclusively for dogs
This beach, intended only for dogs and their owners, is located between Villa Tur and the eastern part of Capucins Beach. Here, your dog can freely run on the sand, play in the waves, and even refresh in the salty water.
The city also has a “toutourisme” certificate, guaranteeing individual reception for dogs and their owners. Upon arrival at the tourist office, you receive a welcome kit: a practical guide to La-Siotat with useful addresses (restaurants, parks and gardens where dogs are allowed), poop bags, and a sample of food suitable for your pet.
Green Island (Île Verte) - a green paradise off the coast of La-Siotat
You can also take your dog to Green Island, which can be reached by boat from the Old Port of La-Siotat. Arriving at the pier of the Saint-Pierre cove, you can walk along several pedestrian paths to reach Plagiol or Senerol coves - a green paradise on the coast. Some local rentals even allow you to take your dog with you on a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard.
Étan-de-Berr - an oasis of tranquillity for your dog
On the wild beach of Buke, no leash is needed - your pet can enjoy the slightly salty water of Étan Berr. This pebble beach is nestled in nature, scattered with shells and surrounded by shrubs.
Near Buke is the beautiful beach of Ronjaque - it is unguarded but equally quiet and fully accessible to dogs.
Towards Châteauneuf-le-Martigues, your dog can bathe in the southern part of Jaï beach, where a two-kilometre stretch is reserved for dogs.
A little further, about 30 km away, the commune of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône is also not far behind. At Napoleon Beach, your dog can stretch its legs on the fine sand or swim at the small cozy Olga beach to the left of the industrial port of Fos.
And finally, the spacious Romaniquet Beach (7300 m²) east of Istres will delight the whole family. Here, there are all the amenities for a pleasant time in the sun: a lifeguard station, toilets, petanque and volleyball courts, a restaurant, and floating slides for children. The only restriction is to keep the dog on a leash.
Lakes and Ponds in Vaucluse
Our neighbours in Vaucluse have two options for a great day on the water with your faithful friend. First, head to the magnificent Bond Pond in Cabrières-d’Avignon - a real gem of the Luberon. This water body warmly welcomes dogs year-round; it is the largest body of water in the Luberon Regional Natural Park, with a length of 500 meters and a width of 350 meters. According to the rules, dogs must be kept on a leash around the entire pond, but in practice, obedient and calm dogs are tolerated without a leash.
Then head to Lake Paty in Caromb, located in the heart of the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park. Its area is almost 500 hectares, formed after the construction of the Caromb dam in 1766. This place for relaxation, walks, and picnics is valued for its tranquillity; your dog on a leash will be welcomed here gladly so that it can enjoy the coolness amidst the crystal-clear water and lush vegetation.
Returning from the beach, don’t forget to rinse your dog with fresh water and give them plenty of fresh drinking water. With all these addresses in your pocket, this hot summer is not scary for you or your faithful companion.
