Nice Football Club Honours Victims of July 14 Attack
Memory on the English Riviera
Ten years after the tragic events of July 14, 2016, when 86 people died in Nice, the city’s football club held a solemn ceremony. The main team players, coaching staff, and academy trainees gathered at the memorial at Villa Massena.
More than just football
Club President Jean-Pierre Rivère emphasized: “The role of the football club goes beyond sporting results. Our duty is to support families who still live with this pain.” Former player, now coach of the youth team Alexy Bosetti added: “It is important to explain to the new generation what this tragedy means for the club’s and the city’s identity.”
Symbols of remembrance
In the 2026/27 season, all OGC Nice jerseys will be adorned with a heart-shaped badge in memory of the victims. This symbol will also appear on the captain’s armband. “Such symbols help to preserve the memory of events that must not be forgotten,” Bosetti noted.
