Families with children aged 6 to 18 on the Côte d’Azur, as across mainland France, will receive the back-to-school allowance (ARS) on 18 August 2026. The amount of the payment depends on the child’s age and has increased compared with last year.

Who will receive the allowance

The back-to-school allowance (ARS) is intended for families with children aged 6 to 18 who attend public or private schools, as well as for children in education or in specialised institutions. An important criterion is that the family income must not exceed €22,274 per year for one dependent child; the threshold increases by €6,682 for each additional child, reports Social Security.

Payment amounts in 2026

  • €426.87 — for children aged 6–10
  • €450.41 — for children aged 11–14
  • €466.02 — for children aged 15–18

The amounts were increased following the annual indexation on 1 April 2026.

Conditions and deadlines

To receive the allowance the child must have been born between 16 September 2008 and 31 December 2020. Payments will begin on 18 August 2026 — this date applies to all of mainland France (in Mayotte and Réunion the allowance arrived earlier, on 4 August), and therefore to the Côte d’Azur as well.

Earlier this month school supplies were distributed to needy families in Antibes — another support measure ahead of the new school year.
